Ropecon-dictionary for locations

Two important words: the Finnish word sali translates to a hall, whereas the word aula refers to a lobby. Thus, if you see a compound word with either of these words in it, you can already understand that it either refers to a (lecture) hall or a lobby.

Kokemuspiste – Experience Point: Ropecon 2015 has a specific are, the Experience Point, which is meant for those interested in trying out new miniature-, card-, board-, and role playing games. The are is intended to showcase various aspects of the hobby and it welcomes both beginners and experienced players interested in new games alike. Precursors to the Experience Point have been called the introduction zone and the demo room.

The introduction area of the Helmet Libraries is also in the vicinity.

Alvarin aukio: A large grassy area between the Otaniemi campus main building and library

Gorsu: A sauna/shower and clubroom in the basement of JMT5. Entrance is located on the Rantasauna side of the building.

JMT: An acronym for the Jämeräntaival street. Please see the map to find the buildings that are referred to with the acronyms JMT1, JMT3 and JMT5.

Juhla-aula: The lobby on the first floor of Dipoli. This is where you will end up after entering the convetion from the main entrance (juhlaovi).

Käpyaula: The lobby on the first floor of Dipoli. This is where you will end up after entering the convention from the entrance beside the restaurant Ravintola Cantina (also known as Keltsu). In addition, here you can also find the Kokemuspiste – Experience Point.

Kaubamaja: Ropecon shopping area, located in Sali 4 in the second floor of Dipoli.

Keltsu and keltsun ovi (Keltsu door): Restaurant Cantina and the door beside it (the one facing the TF building).

Käpyovi: The entrance to the Käpyaula lobby. Closed during Ropecon.

Käpysali: A hall in the first floor of Dipoli. Accessible through the Käpyaula lobby.

Klondyke: A hall in the first floor of Dipoli. Accessible through the Juhla-aula lobby.

Luolamies: A hall in the second of Dipoli, accesible through Sali 1 (in the second floor) or from the Poli-Takka-Palaver –wing (first floor).

Monitoimitila: A place in JMT 3A. The same door takes you to Takkakabinetti and Peli-tila.

OK: Short for the Otakaari-street.

OK 18 ja 20: Otakaari street builings 18 and 20. Some program items are held here, and they are used as lodgings. OK18 entrance is from the street, OK20 from the yard.

Otaranta:Name of the street as well as the beach. The Otaranta is located between the sea and the sports field called Otaranta. There is also a street going through this area, also called Otaranta.

Otarannan kerhotila (Otaranta clubroom): In the basement of Otaranta 8 B. To get in you need to find a downward-sloping walkway behind a bush.

Pelitila: A room in JMT3A. From the same door you can access Monitoimitila and Takkakabinetti as well.

Rantsu: A shoreside sauna located on the shore behind JMT 5.

Takka-Poli-Palaver: A wing on the first floor of Dipoli. Accessible by turning right immediately after entering the convention through the juhlaovi door.

Takkakabinetti: A room in JMT3A. From the same door you can also access Monitoimitila and Pelitila.

TF (Täffä): A grey concrete building next to Dipoli, facing the Keltsu door.
